The care and treatment of the child's diseases essentially differ from those of adults. For there are anatomic, physiological, morphological, emotional and immunological immaturities of a child that define features of development and outcomes of their diseases. All this necessitates knowledge of children's physical, and psychological development for the patient's care and diseases prevention which of is the basic of our medical services.
Our Department of Pediatrics was established in October 1968. Through the combined efforts of successive directors and senior physicians, we have grown year by year, establishing a Neonatal Intensive Care Center and a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit to provide high-quality intensive medical care for critically ill neonate, infants, children and adolescents in the Xindian district, improving the survival rate of premature infants. While gaining recognition from the local community our medical services have increased accordingly. We promote the health of premature infants, full-term newborns, toddlers, children and adolescents. We treat complex medical diseases while at the same time providing basic general pediatric care. We build partnerships with our patients and families, keeping them at the center of decision-making, supporting and educating them. For we believed that only by promoting patient- and family-centered care, can children's health best be served.
Our Department of Pediatrics is one of the training hospitals accredited by Taiwan Pediatric Medical Association for RRC pediatric residents, neonatal specialists, pediatric critical care specialists, and pediatric emergency specialists. We have closed educational and research partnerships with Children's Hospitals such as National Taiwan University Hospital, Mackay Memorial Hospital, and Taipei Veterans General Hospital. Our Residency Program through our outstanding training program that prepares future successful pediatrician who advocate for the health and care of children, and who engage in lifelong learning and service.
Our pediatric medical services are certified by the New Taipei City Health Bureau as an Assessment Hospital for children with developmental delays and the Health Promotion Administration of the Ministry of Health and Welfare as a Adolescent-Friendly Care Institution. We offer pediatric subspecialist outpatient clinics, including general pediatric, neonatology, pediatric neurology, pediatric cardiology, pediatric gastroenterology, pediatric nephrology, pediatric allergy and immunology, pediatric infectious diseases, pediatric endocrinology, pediatric genetics, pediatric intensivist and pediatric emergency medicine. Our Healthy Children's outpatient clinic is attended by our consultants. We have 24-hour pediatric emergency room & 24-hour ambulance with doctor outreach service from call to pick up sick and ill newborns (include extreme preterm) delivered from nearby maternity clinics or other hospitals. |
